GRC Hydro offer specialist knowledge and expertise in the fields of hydrology, hydraulics and floodplain management. Our technical services consist primarily of floodplain management studies and flood impact assessments, while also including stormwater drainage and on-site detention design, hydrological studies for infrastructure, and post-event data collection. We have high-level technical proficiences across numerical modelling, statistical analysis and economic damages assessments, as well as expertise in a range of modelling softwares (TUFLOW, MIKE, SOBEK, RORB, DRAINS and WBNM).
NSW Floodplain Management Program
Our staff have carried out over thirty studies under the NSW Floodplain Management Program, with experience in all types of catchments. In a number of NSW towns and suburbs, we have been involved from the first post-flood event data collection, through to the Flood Study, followed by the Floodplain Risk Management Study and the successful delivery of a robust Floodplain Risk Management Plan to the community. Throughout this process, we combine a strong technical background in floodplain hydrology and hydraulics with understanding of the community’s needs and expectations, and for these reasons, we have strong relationships with a number of Councils throughout NSW.
GRC Hydro are able to provide detailed flooding information to property developers who require Flood Certificates or similar information as part of their development. We have worked with local councils across Sydney and NSW in preparing standardised information on design flood levels and depths to be included as part of the Development Application process. We have strong experience in the varying flood policies of different local government areas, and the function of the Local Environmental Plan and Development Control Plan in each case. Here is a sample flood certificate for a development in Sydney (note that the required content varies significantly between development types and council areas).
At GRC Hydro we understand that the key to successful development, both large and small, is dependable and punctual assistance when the client requires it. We are experienced in providing flood and drainage advice to both private and commercial developers for large range of projects. We offer high quality rapid results for projects with tight time constraints at competitive prices. We have experience working on large project teams and integrating our services with a range of technical backgrounds.
Our staff have experience in developing stormwater, drainage and flood risk assessments for a range of infrastructure types. Our experience and technical expertise allows us to be well-integrated into large multi-disciplinary teams used in infrastructure projects, providing both technical assessments and clear presentation of results and design requirements. We recently completed the hydrological assessment for the Canberra Light Rail project, a $710 million project involving 12 km of light rail through the centre of Canberra.
